Holiday Cards, Feeling Guilty and Firsts

I’m so last minute about my annual holiday card. In fact, I usually do New Year’s cards because I can never get myself motivated enough to get a Christmas card out in time. But this year is going to be different, mostly because of Jackson, my 3-month old baby boy. I can barely get a yearly card out so I knew that I would definitely be doing a combined holiday/baby announcement. In fact, I wasn’t sure I was going to do a baby announcement at all. If you know me or have been following along this last year, you know that I lost my daughter Elizabeth when she was 6 weeks old. It’s been such an emotional year.

Bringing this beautiful baby boy into the world has been filled with elation but also sadness, which are difficult emotions to balance. His presence is a reminder of Elizabeth’s absence. I have this enormous amount of guilt celebrating Jackson because it feels like I’m ignoring Elizabeth, which I know sounds ridiculous but it’s my reality.

Just as my anxiety about baby announcements was mounting I was contacted by Basic Invite. They asked if I would check out their website and work with them on a sponsored post. I’m new to this world of sponsored content and really, really want to only work with brands that make sense. This was too perfect because I was looking for a holiday card company that allowed for total creative freedom. As I explored the Basic Invite website, I was so pleasantly surprised. Not only are there tons of beautiful templates (they have all the categories covered, including a Christmas invitation template category), but navigating the website is very easy. You also have the ability to customize any invite you choose with their 180 color options. They really want you to be happy and with your purchase and try to go above and beyond to create an experience that makes it feel effortless and inspiring.

But my favorite option is the custom samples. I’m someone who needs to see things in-person in order to really make a decision. Basic Invite sends you 5 samples in the mail, which is so freakin’ helpful when it comes to making up my mind! Can you let me know which is your favorite please?! I have a good idea of which one I’m gonna use but would love some input.

Hopefully reading this has kicked your butt into gear and you’re gonna get a head start on your holiday card too. Right now they are offering 15% OFF with coupon code 15FF51. Don’t wait!
